"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." — John 8:36 (NIV)

July is a month that reminds us of freedom. As our nation celebrates Independence Day, we also have an opportunity as followers of Christ to celebrate an even greater freedom—the freedom that comes through Jesus Christ.

Political freedom is a precious gift. It allows us to worship openly, speak boldly, and serve our communities without fear. We should never take these blessings for granted. Yet the greatest freedom we will ever experience is not found in a nation's declaration, but in Christ's sacrifice. Through His death and resurrection, we have been set free from the power of sin, the weight of guilt, and the fear of condemnation.

True freedom is not the ability to do whatever we want. True freedom is the ability to become who God created us to be. It is freedom to love instead of hate, to forgive instead of hold grudges, to serve instead of seeking to be served, and to walk in hope even when life is uncertain.

As we gather with family, enjoy cookouts, watch fireworks, and spend time with those we love, let us remember that the brightest light is not found in the sky but in the life of every believer who reflects the love of Christ. In a world filled with division, anger, and uncertainty, God calls His people to be peacemakers, bridge-builders, and bearers of His grace.

Here at St. Luke AME Church, our mission remains the same: A Place to Belong, Believe, and Become. Every worship service, every Bible study, every act of kindness, and every prayer is an invitation for someone to discover the freedom, hope, and purpose found in Jesus Christ.

As we move through this summer, I encourage you to deepen your relationship with God, strengthen your family, reach out to a neighbor, and look for opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ. The greatest testimony we can give is a life that reflects His love every day.

May God bless you, keep you safe, and continue to guide your steps throughout this month. Let us celebrate not only the freedoms we enjoy as citizens, but the eternal freedom we possess as children of God.

Grace and Peace,
