Scripture: James 1:5 (NIV)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Ask the One Who Knows

Life is full of decisions. Some are small and routine, while others carry the weight of our future, our families, our ministries, and our peace of mind. There are moments when we simply do not know what to do.

James offers a simple but powerful solution: ask God for wisdom.

Notice that the verse does not say to ask God for more information. It says to ask for wisdom. Information tells us what is happening, but wisdom helps us understand what to do about it. Wisdom gives us God’s perspective in situations where human understanding falls short.

The good news is that God does not withhold wisdom from His children. He gives generously. He does not shame us for not knowing. He does not criticize us for asking. He welcomes our requests and delights in guiding our steps.

Before you make that decision, have that conversation, take that next step, or worry yourself into exhaustion, pause and pray. The God who sees the end from the beginning already knows the answer.

You may not have all the details, but you have access to the One who does.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God who gives wisdom generously. When I am uncertain, help me to seek You before I lean on my own understanding. Guide my thoughts, direct my decisions, and give me the courage to follow Your leading. Today, I choose to trust Your wisdom above my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
